Dear EASTEM project members and friends,

Hope you are doing well. With this newsletter, I would like to alert you to current project activities in EASTEM. You can email miriam.tardell@uadm.uu.se with any updates you wish to share with everyone.

Recent project activities

WP 2: The group met again on 2 June for the 3rd seminar in the CUP EASTEM series, working in two groups with transcripts from interviews conducted by some EASTEM partners. One of the datasets the group analysed was students' perceptions of a course they had taken in Professional Ethics. The other one was an interview with a teacher about the advantages and disadvantages of online teaching and learning, compared to face-to-face lectures. The seminar was a hands-on exercise in how to conduct research using qualitative data and methods, which was a new experience for some participants. Mats Daniels and Anders Berglund of Uppsala University gave feedback on the two groups' initial conclusions and some advice for how these could be further elaborated into research papers.

WP 4: Siegfried Rouvrais, Gilles Jacovetti, Panuwan Chantawannakul, Nuttee Suree and Sirilak Bangchokdee of the EASTEM WP 4 group have jointly published a paper for the 16th International CDIO Conference, hosted online by Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden, 9-11 June 2020. The paper with the title "UNIVERSITY-INDUSTRY COLLABORATION THEMES IN STEM HIGHER EDUCATION: A EURO-ASEAN PERSPECTIVE" is based on WP 4's mapping of university-business and industry collaboration (UBIC) in EASTEM partner institutions and the national frameworks in this area in some EU and ASEAN countries.

The paper and the ppt presentation to be presented by Siegfried Rouvrais can be found by accessing this link: http://www.cdio.org/content/university-industry-collaboration-themes-stem-higher-education-euro-asean-perspective

If you would like to attend the online conference session where this and related papers will be presented, you will find the Zoom link on CDIO's website:
